Cafe Lacus

Cafe Lacus

Our clients came to us with a very clear vision of what they wanted to achieve in their brand new cafe. Creating a space their customers would love to visit and something a little different than anything they (or we) had ever seen before. We love a challenge and jumped at the opportunity to be apart of this project.

There were three main parts to this project. The three floating huts were made with white washed pine ply to match the wall paneling. We need to ensure the subframe was strong enough and therefore they were reinforced with steel plates. LED Strip lighting was routed into the top panels to light up the detailing on the walls. We made the top panels removable ith concealed fixings to allow access to the LED drivers.

The Instagram “O” was a challenge to create a perfect circle. We wrapped white washed veneered pine around a ply wood subframe that was layered with bendy ply.

The third item was a high top table with USB charging ports and a built in planter. The planter boxes in the centre not only create an organic ‘wall’ between the two sides, but they conceal the driers for the USB ports.

We love being a part of projects like this that really allow us to explore different techniques and create amazing spaces for our clients. Our talented team worked with the client from initial concept stages, to manufacturing and installation. Our attention to detail, our knowledge of materials and manufacturing delivered a high quality finish, ensured this project was a huge success.

We wish we could give them more than 5 stars. The team at Graft are great. They made our Cafe Lacus standout from the rest of the cafes in Taupo. Keep doing what you doing guys. Thank you so much for bringing our vision to life.
